FAQ
How Old does my child need to be?
Children as young as 5 can participate, members under 8 progress through what is called the SHO syllabus once they have a license. It doesn't give out tabs or belts, but don't worry it's free to grade and when you turn 8, transfers to the MON syllabus
Do I need a membership to start with?
No, we are fully affiliated with the BJA and beginners are covered temporarily under our insurance, however a Judo License is required for Judoka to grade and also gives enhanced insurances.
How do I progress in Judo?
Once you're sure Judo is for you, you'll want to get a BJA Judo license. This not only fully insures you, but is required for players to grade. There are 3 groups Sho grades for 5 to 7, Mon grades 8 to 15 or Kyu grade for 16+.
Where is it?
We are located in the School Gym (gipsy lane site) on the Exmouth community college campus
